Associate / Principal Architect. Auckland & Wellington.

Isthmus is an award-winning, integrated design studio that blends architecture, landscape and urban design. Established in 1988, we are guided by a clear set of principles and ideas; our kaupapa is based on deepening the relationships between land, people and culture.

We are seeking experienced Architects to join our collaborative studio environment in both Auckland and Wellington. These senior roles will help us to conceive and bring to life extraordinary ideas and innovative solutions that are human-centred, technically astute, efficient and sustainable.

You’ll be:

— Leading a diverse range of inspiring and impactful projects, across a range of scales with a focus on social infrastructure.

— Applying the breadth of your skills across a project leadership role where your creativity and technical ability will come to the fore through the entire life of a project.

— A leader within our studio as you cultivate innovation, people and projects.

— Helping to grow our practice with design-led and technically innovative solutions.

— A prominent voice in the studio helping to take our architecture practice to new heights.

You’ll have:

— 12+ years’ experience ideally across a range of residential, education, civic and mixed used projects.

— Design-led conceptual thinking coupled with a drive for excellence, innovation and creativity.

— Solid experience as a project sponsor, comfortable operating fully independently.

— A thorough understanding of all facets of project design including client management through to contract admin and delivering projects to the ground.

— In-depth knowledge of the profession, industry and market.

— Excitement about collaborating within our “no boundaries” design environment.

— Proven experience securing strategic projects through relationships as well as competitive tenders.

— reputation as an influential and engaging communicator and strong relationship builder, with a growing profile as an industry leader.

— Excellent technical skills across construction techniques & documentation software (ideally including Revit, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD).

Intermediate Architect. Wellington.

We now have an opportunity for an Intermediate Architectural Graduate to join our collaborative studio environment in Wellington.

You’ll be:

— Playing an important role in the team, supporting complex jobs with design-led and technically innovative solutions, while understanding the wider project context.

— Working on a diverse range of inspiring and impactful projects including intensive residential, housing and houses, community and civic buildings and masterplans.

— Applying the breadth of your skills across a role where your creativity and technical ability will come to the fore and continue to grow.

You’ll have:

— 3-6 years’ experience across a broad range of projects.

— Design-led conceptual thinking coupled with a drive for excellence, innovation and creativity.

— The ability and confidence to make timely decisions.

— Naturally creative and critical thinking, bringing design and planning solutions and using research to inform and test ideas.

— Strong relationship building skills, fostering positive working relationships with clients and acting as a valuable mentor for graduate architects.

— Excitement about collaborating within our “no boundaries” design environment.

— Technical skills across construction techniques & documentation software (ideally including Revit, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD).
