Associate or Principal Architect (Wellington)

Are you the inspirational design-thinker and leader we’re seeking to take the helm of the architecture practice within our award-winning creative studio?

An opportunity has opened up for a design leader to join our team and help us take the next step in our journey as a thriving interdisciplinary studio. Here’s your chance to bring your ingenuity and thought-leadership to the fore as you help lead our vision for architectural design and craft and grow our design-led practice.

The heart of your job will be to lead our growing architectural practice in Wellington. You’ll help lead and grow projects and people as we pursue innovative solutions of form and space that are human centred, technically astute, efficient and sustainable. This is an ideal opportunity if you’re seeking to take your career up a step to the next level in an influential and rewarding leadership role.

You’ll be:

  • A leader within our award-winning studio fostering innovation and our commitment to environment, community and design excellence
  • Growing our practice with design-led solutions that delight, inspire and endure
  • Leading and nurturing the day-to-day management and design culture of the studio, collaborating with inter-disciplinary teams and inspiring and supporting our people to grow and do their best work
  • Leading teams on complex projects and overseeing the delivery of work that contributes to Isthmus’ reputation and standing of diverse and world-class work across intensive residential, houses and housing, community and civic buildings and masterplans
  • Steering and growing key strategic client relationships and securing strategic projects through relationships and competitive tenders
  • Part of the leadership team in our Wellington studio, contributing to the wider practice strategy
  • Realising an opportunity for shareholding in the business

 

You’ll be/have:

  • A registered architect with 15+ years’ experience with a track record of delivering high calibre architecture projects across residential, commercial and mixed used projects
  • Exciting, design-led thinking and thought leadership coupled with a drive for excellence and innovation
  • An opportunity creator: you’ll be excited to carve out a path with great people and projects
  • Management experience with exceptional leadership and communication skills in running and inspiring teams
  • Hungry to spearhead the continued growth of our architecture practice within a interdisciplinary studio

Senior Architect / Architectural Graduate (Auckland)

Are you hungry to take the next step up in your career?

We are an integrated, award-winning design studio that removes the traditional boundaries between the disciplines of architecture, landscape and urban design. We are guided by a clear set of principles and ideas; our kaupapa is based on deepening the relationships between land, people and culture.

You’ll be:

  • Leading a diverse range of inspiring and impactful projects including intensive residential, housing and houses, community and civic buildings and masterplans
  • Applying the breadth of your skills across a project design role where your creativity will come to the fore across concept and developed design
  • A leader within our studio as you cultivate innovation, people and projects
  • Helping to grow our practice with design-led and impactful solutions and design of places that inspire and endure
  • Hungry to be soon taking the next step up to Associate level

You’ll have:

  • 7+ years’ experience ideally across residential, commercial, civic and mixed used projects
  • Strong design-led conceptual thinking coupled with a drive for excellence, innovation and creativity
  • Good grounding across all facets of project design including client management through to contract admin and delivering projects to the ground
  • An understanding of NZ building codes and relevant standards
  • Excitement about collaborating within our “no boundaries” design environment
  • A prominent voice in the studio helping to take our architecture practice to new heights

Intermediate Architectural Graduate

Looking to grow your design career within a design-led inter-disciplinary studio driven to enrich places and people?

You’ll be:

  • Working across a diverse range of inspiring projects that inspire and endure as much as they enrich places and people
  • Delivering civic, residential, commercial, and mixed-use buildings integrated into the fabric of the urban environment
  • An instrumental part of project teams producing design and technical deliverables
  • Continuing to develop your design, detail design and problem-solving skills while applying fresh creative perspectives
  • Growing your exposure to project design and contributing your voice at each stage of a project from design, to detail and construction
  • Making the most of opportunities that’ll pave the way into a senior role

You’ll have:

  • 4+ years’ experience ideally across residential, commercial, civic and mixed used projects
  • Strong design skills with a drive for excellence, innovation and creativity
  • The ability to translate innovative design into practical solutions
  • An understanding of NZ building codes and relevant standards
  • Excitement about collaborating within our “no boundaries” design environment
  • A proactive attitude: you’ll grab opportunities to chart your own course

Architectural Graduate

Could you be the newest graduate to join our studio. Come on board and help create impactful, sustainable and human-centred architectural solutions that delight and endure.

Here’s the role

As our newest architectural graduate this will be an exciting chance for you to grow within a design-led studio that’s filled to the brim with inspiring and meaningful projects and designers who love to create, collaborate and make a difference in the world.

 

You’ll build your technical, production and design skills as you play an important role within project teams across a diverse range of projects including high-end medium and high-density residential, bespoke housing, community and civic works and masterplans. You’ll produce excellent graphic and technical deliverables with lots of opportunity to apply your innovative design-thinking as your talents flourish.

Is this you?

  • Inquisitive about the world around you with a passion for design, innovation and creativity in architecture and beyond
  • You’ll show a history of achievement and leadership in your work, study and other areas of your life
  • A proactive attitude: you grab opportunities to chart your own course
  • Knowledge of a range of architectural design tools and methodologies
  • Good command of Adobe Suite and AutoCAD is preferred
  • It’s a bonus if you’ve a future interest in urban design and/or residential masterplanning
  • Some experience in commercial studio or internship would be beneficial
